Google Reviews

Somehow someone has been able to manipulate the Google reviews so that the church members' reviews stay on top, pushing down the negative reviews.   Below is a new review today.  I had completely forgotten about the weird foot washings and triple-dipping baptisms.  That is why this blog can be very helpful.  When you are deeply involved in a church like this, things that seem normal aren't really normal once you have left and are on the outside and can think clearly.  To elevate foot washing to the same level as communion?  Really?  No co-ed swimming?  Thank you, former member, for your honest review.

I was in this church for a period of time and found that between their quarterly communal foot washings, baptismal triple dippings, the annual modesty diatribe, no coed swimming and if you don't agree with this pastor then you and your family are shunned. And no, I am not kidding. This is leagalism 101. Run! Matthew 7:15-16a "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheeps clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits..."

  1. It is so interesting that in Google reviews the thing that bothers CO'N most is de"fame"ation". Fame does seem to be what he treasures. What ever happened to "I must decrease and He [Christ] must increase". Bible.org rightly notes "Authentic leadership has been taught and modeled for us by Jesus Christ. His leadership example was emulated by Paul, Peter, Stephen, Philip, James, Barnabas, and the courageous men who started the first-century church...true biblical leadership begins with faith, humility, and servanthood." Sadly, humble is one thing I would never describe CO'N as.

  2. Foot washing and triune-immersion baptisms are not counter biblical. There is evidence in early church history, that the early church practiced these things. This is just a conservative view of the scriptures and not an evidence of abuse or of something wierd going on at what was WRGBC to me. I agree that some bad things have and continue to go wrong at this church. Fortunately, my family was leaving at the time the new pastor was starting and did not experience what you all have. However, that does not make their practice of foot washing and baptism a point of contention. Particularly when whole denominations of churches follow these same practices. The whole co-Ed swimming thing, now that is wierd and you would be hard pressed to find a biblical precedent for that.

    1. I never met anyone had issues with the foot washing in and of itself, it was that it was elevated to the same level as Communion which I have not seen in Scripture. We certainly would not have left the church based on that issue alone anyway - it's a secondary issue.

  3. "Foot washing and triune-immersion baptisms are not counter biblical. There is evidence in early church history, that the early church practiced these things. This is just a conservative view of the scriptures" - there Biblical basis there is that foot-washing was the one that Jesus command the disciples to do (just like he did w/ communion and baptism), that's why some faith tradition saw that as a sacrament. Triune-immersion also derived from the "baptize them in the name of the Father; the Son; and the Holy Spirit".

"We certainly would not have left the church based on that issue alone anyway - it's a secondary issue." - Great response there.
