JA dangling her feet from the boat dock near home. |
I went for a walk with two of my boys by the river near our home and this song came to mind. I don't know why I haven't done devotions by the river. The path to the river is only two short blocks away from our home. Yes, I think it needs to happen. Have a wonderful Sunday.
"Down To The River To Pray"
As I went down in the river to pray
Studying about that good ol' way
And who shall wear the starry crown?
Good Lord show me the way!
O sisters let's go down
Let's go down, come on down
O sisters let's go down
Down in the river to pray
As I went down in the river to pray
Studying about that good ol' way
And who shall wear the robe & crown?
Good Lord show me the way
O brothers let's go down
Let's go down, come on down
Come on brothers, let's go down
Down in the river to pray
As I went down in the river to pray
Studying about that good ol' way
And who shall wear the starry crown?
Good Lord show me the way
O fathers let's go down
Let's go down, come on down
O fathers let's go down
Down in the river to pray
As I went down in the river to pray
Studying about that good ol' way
And who shall wear the robe and crown?
Good Lord show me the way
O mothers let's go down
Come on down, don't you wanna go down?
Come on mothers, let's go down
Down in the river to pray
As I went down in the river to pray
Studying about that good ol' way
And who shall wear the starry crown?
Good Lord show me the way
O sinners, let's go down
Let's go down, come on down
O sinners, let's go down
Down in the river to pray
As I went down in the river to pray
Studying about that good ol' way
And who shall wear the robe and crown?
Good Lord show me the way
Hey Julie Anne, great timing around the same song!! Our church had a water baptism service today down by the riverside in our town. There were 6 people, one pal from our home group, 2- 13 yr. olds, and 3 young women. One of the young pastors taught on the tradition of water baptism, then some of them shared in each of the two services.
ReplyDeleteBetween the services the whole group followed the pastor about 5 blocks to a heritage site at the river. It was very meaningful for everyone gathered as well as those who looked on.
I would also like to add this link. It was a song that we had thought about while there and looked it up when we got home. The heritage photos are great. A wonderful reminder how we are all joined together through what Our Lord has done for us.

This is a really pretty song. I'd love to listen to it again... if only the copyright holders would let this video play outside of North America. (BOOOOO-urns!)
ReplyDeleteThis reminds me of something Julie Anne asked about before: A new name for the blog. I can't recall if anyone else suggested this, but I'd like to nominate "Still Waters". That's what this blog could be for those who are suffering... A place where God can lead them for the restoration of their souls.
